When it comes to communities rising together, Louisiana residents and businesses have certainly had their fair share of experience just in the past two decades – Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005, BP Oil Spill in 2010 and the 500-Year Flood in 2016 to name a few. Just in this past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented our global community with challenges unlike any that we have ever encountered; and most recently, Hurricane Laura wrought absolute devastation on Southwest Louisiana up through the northern parts of our state. And yet – the people of Louisiana get back up...the resilience of the human spirit shines through and the compassion and generosity of individuals and businesses continue to inspire.

A variety of nonprofit organizations came together to create Love Our Community, a philanthropic organization originally dedicated to providing support across Louisiana in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. And while the fight continues against the spread of this disease, it is necessary to broaden the scope of Love Our Community to encompass aid and assistance for our friends who have suffered unimaginable damage to their homes and businesses in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura.
